Horton Kirby Paper Mill, February 2007 [R.I.P]

It was a cold February thursday morning when Spotlight and I embarked on a train for the short journey of... 1 stop. As soon as we got off the train we could see navigating to the destination was NOT going to be a problem - especially with the impressive chimney piercing the horizon.

As we walked down the little lane we nearly went into the active Industrial Estate - which just happens to share the same name. Once we walked a round a bit we saw how we where going to have to get in.. Across a river and under a fence. Even if the river was small - it didn't make the explore any more fun being wet.

Once we had crossed the river we were both cautious as to Security - Only to find there was none! Next up was finding a way in - this place was boarded up to the max and it looked like a no hope. That is, Until Spotlight tried a door that ended up budging.

We explored about 3 buildings only to notice a load more when we were leaving. "We will come back" I promised myself.

Fast forward 9 months and here I am, writing this report when the Mill is going through demolition. Very little of it is left and all that is left, is in chaos. I regret not going back and its almost upsetting to see the photos of the demolition - Remember kids, Don't wait around.

[NOTE: These images where resized on my Linux box using a different re-sizer - hence the general shittiness of them.]
